They came from all over the country. They ended up in a house they’d seen on television.

Winners of a contest put on by NBC’s “Today Show” were in Los Angeles over the past weekend, with an itinerary including a bike tour of Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. The tour, organized by Beach Cities Bike Tours, began at Hermosa Cyclery and stretched to the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Along the way, contest winners stopped in at the North Hermosa Strand home famous for appearing in the show “Beverly Hills 90210.” The house was filled with a group staying the weekend for a bachelor party. The bachelor party invited the contest winners into the famous home, and the film crew from “Today” got in on the action.

The contest asked participants all over the country to dream up ways to spend the extra “Leap Day” that passed last Monday, Feb. 28. Winners from Ohio, Delaware, Rhode Island and elsewhere headed to the Southland for a three-day visit organized by Discover LA, an arm of the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board.

Footage of the trip, including the time in the Beach Cities, will appear Friday morning on “Today” at 7 a.m. PST.
