Best of the BeachNext fall, the South Bay’s ninth Trader Joe’s will open in Hermosa Beach in what was formerly known as the Ralph’s Shopping Center on Pacific Coast Highway. The foodie emporium has over 400 stores nationwide, each one designed to fit the local neighborhood, according to spokesperson Alison Morhizuki.

The Hermosa store, like the neighboring Manhattan and Redondo stores, will have murals of local sites painted by crewmembers, as the company calls its employees.

Despite its many exotic foods and beverages, it keeps prices competitive by not holding sales or offering coupons or discount programs, Morhizuki said. Over 80 percent of its products are Trader Joe’s brands, which helps it control quality, she added.
