
After NoPowerPlant.com and Building and Better Redondo (BBR) submitted 7,468 valid signatures required to get the AES power plant zoning initiative on the ballot, the City Council decided to postpone their decision about how to proceed after the City received an email at around noon on Tuesday from NoPowerPlant.com lawyers Strumwasser & Woocher threatening a potential lawsuit if the initiative is not put on the ballot.

The Club 705 nightclub has closed following two large fights within two weeks. At Tuesday’s planning commission meeting, Interim Police Chief Steve Johnson told commissioners that he ordered Club 705 closed after seven instances of violence within the last year, most recently a fight Saturday that spilled out of the nightclub at about 1:30 a.m. Club 705 Manager Xavier Flemenco told commissioners he voluntarily closed the nightclub before the city took action, but the restaurant remains open.
