2020 Hermosa Beach Surfer Walk of Fame inductees to get plaques

The Hermosa Beach Historical Society will host the Surfer Walk of Fame weekend kick-off party on Friday, April 22 at the Hermosa Beach Community Theater, 710 Pier Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. Past and present inductees will be on hand. Following the party, the South Bay Boardriders will present their annual surf and scholarship awards in the Community Center Theater. Brad Jacobson’s video of the past winter’s surf, “Tomorrow should be good,” will also be screened in the Community Center Theater Friday evening 

The Surfer Walk of Fame inductions will be held Saturday, on PIer Plaza at 11 a.m. This year’s inductees are Nick Christensen (Cultural Legend), Josette Lagardere (Champion), Charlie Quesnel (South Bay Legend) and John Teague (Pioneer). The inductees were selected in 2020 and will be recognized as 2020 inductees. Their induction ceremony was delayed because of the pandemic.

Prior to the induction, the SBBC/Waterman’s surf contest will be held at the Hermosa pier. Following the inductions, the Spyder/Subaru Pacific Surf Fest will take place on the plaza, with live music, raffles and giveaways. Leadership Hermosa will also exhibit over 80 painted surfboards by local artists from its Boards Across Hermosa program.
