A two-second winning margin highlighted the 31st edition of the Independence Day 5K Run and Firecracker Dash in Redondo Beach, put on by Village Runner July 4. Ayrton Ledesma, 26, crossed the finish line first in 14:38, outrunning Chris Frias, 33, at 14:40. Billy Atkinson, 22, came in third at 14:49.
For the women, Abby Hong, 22, took first place with a time of 16:45, followed by Claire Collison, 34, at 17:28 and Eva Townsend, 28, at 18:01.
