The annual Hermosa Beach New Year’s Eve celebration on Pier Plaza has joined the city’s Saint Patrick Day’s Parade as one of the community’s most popular traditions. Pier Plaza was filled with families for the 9 p.m. Beach Ball Drop, which coincides with the Ball Drop in New York City’s Time Square. At midnight the Plaza filled up again for a second Beach Ball Drop celebrating the start of the New Year in California.
Keeping spirits up between ball drops were Lou Giovannetti and his Big Band and Mira Costa alumna (2019) and USC Thornton School of Music jazz singer Kira Levin and her band. The evening was organized by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Bell Events Services. ER
