+ Community Development Director to focus on housing and zoning 

Redondo Beach’s former Director of Community Development, Brandy Forbes, was named to the same position for Rancho Palos Verdes last month. In Redondo, Forbes was responsible for managing the South Bay Galleria redevelopment and securing state certification for Redondo’s general plan housing element. Prior to joining the City of Redondo Beach, Forbes served as Director of Community Development in Hoboken, New Jersey, for nearly a decade. She succeeds former Director of Community Rancho Palos Verdes Development Director Ken Rukavina, who retired in 2022. City Manager Ara Mihranian said Forbes’s focus will be on zoning and housing issues on important housing and zoning matters.

Forbes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a Master of Arts degree in urban and regional planning, both from the University of Iowa. She is a member of the American

Institute of Certified Planners.

First Lieutenant Brock Pennington.

First Lieutenant Brock Pennington, a 2016 graduate of Palos Verdes High School, has been assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Andrews Air Force base in Washington D.C., where he will fly the UH-1N Huey.
