St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Everyone is Irish and the Irish are everyone at the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day parade. As it has for the past 29 years, the parade will feature nearly 100 entries, including high school marching bands, schools of Irish dancers, the LAPD Emerald Society bagpipers, truckbed bands and community leaders riding in classic cars. Hermosa Beach Chamber Person of the Year Liz Tyndorf is this year’s Grand Marshal. The parade honoree will be Travers Divine, who passed away in October. Travers co-founded the parade with Jean Schmeltzer in 1995. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at the top of Pier Avenue and ends at 8th Street and Hermosa Avenue. A concert will follow the parade on Pier Plaza, at 1 p.m., featuring The spinouts, Vaquita and The Slurkeys. Throughout the day, all ages are welcomed to participate in the Shamrock Shuffle Bingo scavenger hunt. Participants can pick up a Bingo Card at the Hermosa Beach Chamber office on 120 Pier Ave, or any of the participating businesses. The parade is sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Chamber Foundation.
