Wayfarers Chapel Resurrection

by Rev. Dr. David Brown

Christians have entered into the Season of Lent,  with Ash Wednesday marking 40 days (not including Sundays) until Easter. Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer and fasting and a reminder of our mortality. Lent is not meant to be a celebration. It is a sobering reminder to use our time wisely. It is also a reminder that we are guests here on Earth. Our roots are in the heavens, with God.

The ancient ritual of receiving ashes on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday is a reminder from Genesis 3:19 “…for dust you are, and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19)

The ashes are from the palm fronds used from the previous year’s Palm Sunday service. These burned palm fronds are mixed with olive oil to be used during special services on Ash Wednesday.

Wayfarers Chapel update

Our Wayfaring Congregation is meeting Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m at the St. Francis Episcopal Church located at 2200 Via Rosa in PVE.

It is faith in the resurrection of what was once thought to be dead that continues to flow through me and all who love Wayfarers Chapel. Jesus was not the only person who rose from the dead. The following from the Gospel of John demonstrates the power of eternal life over physical death. Lazarus in this story can also become a parable applied to speaking life and resurrection back into the beloved Wayfarers Chapel 2.0:

Our new ministry is also available on Zoom from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. each Sunday. Each week we will cover a new spiritual topic to explore and discuss as we learn the growing edges of our spiritual consciousness. Signups can be found on our website:
