
More than 3,700 participants officially finished the 35th running of the Manhattan Beach 10K Saturday in a race that was highlighted by repeat winners in both the male and female divisions.
Tito Lezama, 22, of Gardena improved on his 2011 winning time of 31 minutes, 52 seconds by completing the 6.2-mile course in 31:06.
John Poray, 31, of Long Beach finished second at 31:34 and Erik Steffens, 26, of Sherman Oaks placed third with a mark of 33:08.
Redondo Beach’s Nathalie Higley captured her 11th Manhattan Beach 10K title in the women’s division posting a time of 36:08. The 42-year-old running icon bested her 2011 winning performance by 43 seconds.
Alison Kielty, 25, of Torrance placed second at 38:00, beating out Alison Atkinson who crossed the finish line at 38:33.
