Aspiring beach volleyball players will have a chance to showcase their talent when the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) begins its 2012 tour with the Easter Classic to be held Saturday at Dockweiler State Beach in El Segundo.
Competition is open to boys in the 14U, 12U and 10U age groups. Girls compete in the 18U, 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U divisions. All participants must have a current AAU membership.
The second of the 28 AAU events scheduled throughout the country will be the Spring Classic on Sunday, April 15 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Competition features boys and girls 18U, 16U, 14U and 10U age divisions.
Local tournaments on the tour include the: Isadore Dockweiler Open (April 29, Dockweiler Beach); Los Angeles Open (May 20, Dockweiler Beach); Southern Pacific Championships (June 3, Dockweiler Beach); California Regional Championships (June 10, Dockweiler Beach); VB Rags Classic (June 16, Hermosa Beach); Junior California Open (July 8, Dockweiler Beach); Junior National Championships (July 14-15, Hermosa Beach); Summer Classic (July 26, Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach); West Coast Junior Olympic Games (July 28-30, Hermosa Beach); AAU Tour Championship (Aug. 19, Hermosa Beach) and Coed Championships (Aug. 26, Dockweiler Beach).
