Mira Costa class of ‘65 reunion

State of Business in CA

State Senator Ben Allen and Assemblyman David Hadley will speak at the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce’s State of Business in California event on Aug. 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided by Tin Roof Bistro. Drought tolerant gardening

Join Mike Garcia and Mimi Andersen, experts in horticulture, landscaping and design from the Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden, for an introduction to drought tolerant gardening at the Manhattan Beach library on Aug. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon. From maintaining your lawn to tending a container garden, they offer practical tips for conserving water and nurturing your plants.

 

Personal safety workshop

The Manhattan Beach library will hold a personal safety workshop for children ages four to 10 and their parents and caregivers on Aug. 8 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The workshop is designed to help participants identify risks and evaluate options for dealing with threats of violence.
