Drought rules eased

Residents are now allowed to water their lawns twice a week for seven and a half minutes. Previously, they were limited to one 15-minute watering period. The city council approved an amendment to its drought ordinance on Sep. 15.

The change was prompted by residents’ complaints about the strict rules. Citing a 23 percent reduction in usage and the heavy rains that have been predicted, Public Works Director Tony Olmos said he supported easing the restrictions.

Input sought for strategic plan

The City of Manhattan Beach kicks off its city-wide strategic planning process this month with a community input meeting on Oct. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Joslyn Community Center. Visit citymb.info to RSVP.
