Powell to the People
City Councilmember Wayne Powell will be hosting a new radio show on Mondays at 1 p.m. starting Oct. 5. “Powell to the People” will focus on Manhattan Beach and the rest of the South Bay. Guests will include Dr. Chris Lowe from the Cal State Long Beach Shark Lab; Danny Zuker, co-executive producer of the television show Modern Family; Michael Norton, producer of The Amazing Race; J.D. Roth and Tedd Nelson, creators and executive producers of The Biggest Loser and Extreme Weight Loss; Dennis Jarvis, Spyder Surf owner; astronaut Dr. Danny Olivas; and many others.
“The show is guaranteed to be informative, entertaining and unpredictable,” said Powell.

Gardening for Life
The Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden is offering a free class on Sept. 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will learn to overcome pain, creakiness and fear of injury to recapture their vitality in the garden.
