Student film festival

The South Bay Student Film Festival will take place on May 15 at 7 p.m. at Mira Costa High School. The jury, which is made up of industry professionals and film school professors, received 450 submissions from high school students all over the world.
Michael Hernandez, a media arts teacher at Mira Costa, started the festival in 2001 to “give exposure to burgeoning artists and let the community experience the great work that’s being produced in their own neighborhoods,” according to a press release.
Admission is $5 at the door. For more information, visit www.mcmediaarts.org. ER
