Hosting skating veterans
Local veterans will meet two veterans who are skating down the California coast to raise money to raise charitable donations for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).

This Sunday, June 23, about 30 veterans and their families will ride bikes and lunch with Redondo Beach Iraq veteran Andrew Goldsmith, 28, and Bob Harrington, who are skateboarding 900 miles to inspire and empower fellow veterans.
Goldsmith and Harington left Oregon last month and have been traveling an average of 35 miles a day. Along the way they will be documenting the journey through social media and spreading their message to empower veterans and encourage community involvement in veteran-related issues.
The IAVA is the nation’s first and largest non-profit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to bettering the lives of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. It has over 250,000 member veterans and offers a range of programs in the areas of health, education, employment, and community.
Veteran Skate Trek is accepting donations for the IAVA through their Causes.com page athttp://www.causes.com/actions/1745862-the-mission-isnt-over-veteran-skate-trek. For more information about the trek, visit www.Facebook.com/VetSkateTrek.
