Girls Night Out “fun”-raiser
This ‘just for ladies’ event celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness with an evening of fun and humor. Festivities begin each night at 5:30 p.m. with the opening of the bar and silent auction followed by dinner, live auction, a show and world class line-up of top comedians. Call to reserve your seat for $85 per person. Proceeds from this event will help to fund cancer support groups at CSC-RB. Smoking runway looks
The South Bay Galleria will be hosting a “Wearable Art Fashion Show” from 1-2 p.m. Emerging Southern California artist Sasha Marie Bernard will be debuting a collection that gives Anti-Smoking a contemporary new look. The event will featured a series of life-size, custom-tailored outfits made primarily from cigarette packs, cartons and advertisements that were collected over the past four years. Barnard’s CIGLINE will be the third and final clothing line to hit the runway at the Wearable Art Fashion Show inRedondo Beach. The event is sponsored by the Redondo Beach Art Group. The event will be located on the first floor below the food court. At theSouthBayGalleria at 1815 Hawthorne Blvd.
Fun For All at AES Annual Power Harvest
Enjoy growing the community together at AES’ Annual Power Harvest The fun will include power plant tours, free food and pumpkins, live entertainment, activities for kids and much more. The event will be held on Sat. Oct., 1 from 11- 4 p.m. at the AES Redondo Beach Generating Station at 1100 N. Harbor Drive. The event is free to the public.
State of Education Event
This year’s 2011-2012 school year State of Education event will focus on ‘Building Community’ and will feature speaches by Superintendent Dr. Steven Keller, Board of Education President Jane Diehl, 28th Distirct State Senator Ted Lieu 53rd District Assemblymember Betsy Butler and Mayor Mike Gin. The purpose of the evening, sponsored by Partners in Education, will be to convey the community’s support for public education in Redondo Beach. A chili cook-off is also part of the evening’s event. The program is scheduled for Oct., 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Washington Elementary School on 1100 Lilienthal Lane.
