For City Council District One, school boardmember Rolf Strutzenberg is running, along with Brad Waller and Darin King.
District Two candidates are Chadwick Castle and Louis Burke. In District Four, incumbent Zein Obagi, Jr. is challenged by Terri E. Hunt.
For city attorney, City Quality of Life Prosecutor Joy Abaquin Ford seeks to succeed Mike Webb, as does former city councilman Steve Colin, an attorney who later represented Mayor Brand in a case related to the defunct CenterCal waterfront project.
For school board, Dan Elder and Rachel Silverman Nemeth seek a second term and Hanh Archer runs for her first.
Police annex building cleared after suspected HAZMAT case
The Redondo Beach Police Department Annex building, next to RUHS auditorium, was cleared by L.A. County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Division Wednesday morning after RBPD workers reported an unusual odor emitting from the offices at 7:30 a.m.
The building was evacuated and the Redondo Beach Fire Department initially investigated. No other structures in the vicinity were involved.
The county hazardous materials crew determined the cause of the odor to be a blocked sewage pipe not properly draining.
Redondo Beach Public Works was notified and soon arrived to address the issue.
