Pancake breakfast

The Hermosa Beach Woman’s Club will host its annual Pancake Breakfast this Sunday.

The breakfast will take place at the Clark Building at 861 Valley Drive from 8 a.m. to noon. This year will be the 24th that the Woman’s Club has put batter to griddle to raise money for various community projects, and will feature a Polynesian theme.

In addition to pancakes, food options will include scrambled eggs, fruit, juice and coffee. Activities include a silent auction, games for kids, and a photo booth.

Tickets are $10, and may be purchased at www.womansclubofhermosabeach.org. Children under 5 get in for free.

Candidate debate

The five candidates for city council will square off tonight in a debate sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.

The debate will take place at the Beach House Hotel from 6 to 9 p.m. The debate aims to suss out candidate positions on various issues, including business and economic initiatives, development, and the city’s strategic plan.

Pumpkins

Children can get an early chance to try out their Halloween costumes at the ninth annual Pumpkins in the Park celebration this Saturday.

The event, hosted by the Hermosa Beach Friends of the Parks, runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will take place at Edith Rodaway Park at the intersection of Hollowell and Prospect avenues. Games, food, a puppet show, and mini-pumpkins will be available. ER
