Spotlight:  Redondo Village festival returns

The Riviera Village Summer Festival returns for its 44th year. Enjoy exhibitors, a beer garden, live music, rides, food and more June 24 – 26. The hours are 4 – 9 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday June 26. The weekend features art, crafts, food and live music. Spotlight: In recognition of Pride month, the city of Manhattan Beach will unveil a rainbow crossing at Manhattan Beach Boulevard and The Strand at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14. The event will feature a ribbon cutting and remarks by incoming Mayor Steve Napolitano and guest speakers. “The rainbow crosswalk represents the city’s commitment to inclusivity for all its residents,” outgoing Mayor Hildy Stern said in a statement. “This ribbon cutting event has special meaning during Pride month. It is an opportunity for our community to come together to support the LGBTQ+ community as we strive to be a welcoming city that assures everyone feels valued, safe and supported.”

Street Fair & Music Festival

The 34th annual Palos Verdes Street Fair & Music Festival, featuring beer and wine, food, artisans, vendors, entertainment and carnival rides, is set for June 10-12. The hours are 4-10 p.m. on June 10 (carnival only), 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on June 11, and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on June 12. It will be held at 501 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates. South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society

Tom Glavich, a longtime grower and propagator of succulent plants, is the featured speaker at the South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society’s June meeting. Glavich will talk about the similarities and differences of the Euphorbia species. His presentation will include a look at mutant forms. He’ll also demonstrate how to cultivate and propagate Euphorbias. Live music

The El Segundo Library will present a free concert featuring The Silver Linings Trio from 1-3 p.m. at Library Park, located in the 600 block of Main Street. The trio, consisting of two violinists and a cellist, performs uplifting arrangements ranging from Santana to Sinatra, movie tunes and more.

Author talk

Join Bill Salem at 3 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Public Library as he talks about his memoir, “Cairo to California: From Visualization to Realization.” Copies of the book will be for sale. Gospel concert

The vocal group JMNSingers will take the stage at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Theatre in Torrance. The talented vocalists will present gospel music and spirituals in their third annual gospel concert. Join {pages}: a bookstore for an evening of book talks with special guest Lee Wind and {pages} staff members who will share some of their favorite LGBTQ books with a focus on kids and teen titles. Wind is the author of several books for kids and teens including, “I’m Here. I’m Queer. What the Hell Do I Read?” This is a free event, but RSVPs are requested. Shakespeare by the Sea 

Shakespeare by the Sea will mark its 25th season with a return to live productions. “Much Ado About Nothing” opens June 23, followed by “Romeo & Juliet” on June 30. Shakespeare by the Sea will be at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro June 23-July 9 and Aug. 5-6. The group then hits the road, touring July 10-Aug, 4, with stops in San Pedro, Rancho Palos Verdes, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Encino, Mission Viejo, South Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Santa Ana and Aliso Viejo. Peninsula Symphony concert

The Peninsula Symphony will perform works by Chopin, Tchaikovsky and John Tower at its Kenneth and Eileen Norris Foundation Concert on June 26. The concert, featuring guest conductor David Cubek and 2020 Knox Competition winner pianist Mi-Hyun Suh, is at 7 p.m. at the Redondo Union High School Auditorium, 1 Sea Hawk Way, Redondo Beach.
