SB Cities Council of Govt’s

 The 11th Annual General Assembly focuses on “A Vibrant Economy:  Jobs Keep the South Bay Strong!” with South Bay city mayors, councilmembers, commissioners, business and community leaders gathering at the Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center, 801 East Carson St., Carson, to hear from economists, foreign consulates, legislators, business leaders and the CEOs of some of the area’s major employers about how their businesses are sustaining the economic health of the South Bay. 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Morning and afternoon sessions free and open to the public courtesy of Chevron, Providence Little Co of Mary, Time Warner Cable, the Water Replenishment District and others.  On the Fritz: Jewels & Jesters

 Fritz Coleman, longtime stand-up comic and KNBC-4 weathercaster, is master of ceremonies for a comedy show and live auction at the Comedy & Magic Club to benefit the Crown Jewel Club, an El Segundo-based nonprofit club helping at-risk young girls develop self-esteem and learn manners, etiquette and social skills. Funds raised benefit the seven-week, after-school programs from which over 320 fourth and fifth graders have graduated. $75 includes dinner, a full comedic lineup, and silent and live auctions.  South Bay area Girl Scouts hold their 40th annual Fair at Jo-Ann’s court in the south wing of Del Amo Mall, off Hawthorne Blvd, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. They’ll be displaying, demonstrating and sharing projects and activities from the scouting program.
