Spotlight: Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame 

The 2022 CBVA Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Hermosa Community Theater, 710 Pier Ave. A reception at the Hermosa Beach Museum from 5 to 7 p.m. will be followed by the induction ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Community Theatre. Hall of Fame Class for 2022 are Annett Davis, Sean Rosenthal and Jon Lee. The Ron Von Hagen award will go to the Cressman brothers for organizing the Gillis Volleyball Tournament for 50 years. Tickets are $10 per person, and will be available at the door. Proceeds benefit the Hermosa Beach Historical Society CBVA Hall of Fame Exhibit. For more information, email info@cbva.com.

Manhattan Beach art exhibit

The Manhattan Beach Art Center has a new exhibit, Lynn Aldrich’s “Fly High Fly Deep.” The exhibit, on display through Jan. 1, is about environmental conservation. Viewers are invited to consider the wonder and fragility of life in the sky and sea. The center’s gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. For more information, call 310-802-5440.

Torrance art exhibits

The Torrance Art Museum has debuted its fall exhibitions. It continues through December. The exhibits are “Un-Civil War! (An Election Special),” a critical inquiry into the deepening divisions in America’s political and cultural landscape, and “Ken Friedman: 92 Events.” 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Mira Costa presents “Love/Sick”

Mira Costa’s fall production, John Cariani’s “Love/Sick,” is coming to a close. The final performances are on Nov. 10 (6:30 p.m.), Nov. 11 (7:30 p.m.) and Nov. 12 (7:30 p.m.). “Love/Sick” is a collection of nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, this 80-minute show explores the pain and joy that comes with being in love. The show is rated PG-13. Hermosa Beach wreath laying

Hermosa’s annual wreath laying ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. on Veterans Day, Friday November 11, at the Veterans Memorial Sundial, on the east lawn of the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave. A reception will follow in the Community Theater with a presentation of the video, “Veterans are Timeless.” The video honors veterans who have a special connection to Hermosa Beach. Redondo Beach Veterans Day Tribute

The city of Redondo Beach, Elks Lodge #1378, and the Veterans Memorial Task Force will hold a Veterans Day Tribute on Veteran’s Day, November 11, at 1 p.m. on Veterans Day at the Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park, 309 Esplanade. A barbecue will follow at the Elks Lodge, 15 Esplanade. The barbecue is open to the public and free for veterans, members of the military, firefighters and police officers. There will be a silent auction and activities for children. Breakfast is $13 and includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, juice and coffee. Children under age 5 eat for free. Acupressure and Cancer 

Cancer Support Community South Bay is offering this free workshop led by licensed acupuncturist Ana Paula Duarte. Participants will learn how to give themselves an acupressure massage with specific points to relieve some of the side effects of cancer treatment, such as nausea, chemo brain, lymphedema, hot flashes, dry mouth, joint pain and neuropathy. The workshop is from 5-6 p.m. at 2601 Airport Drive, Suite 100, Torrance. Friends of the Hermosa Library book sale

The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library Bookstore will hold its next monthly Saturday sale on Nov. 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Items for sale include books, DVDs, CDs and LPs, all priced at $1 or less. The bookstore is located on 11th Place behind the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave., west of Pacific Coast Highway and the Veterans Memorial and across the street from the Alano Club. Free parking is available in the Community Center parking lot next to the tennis courts and skateboard park. The bookstore’s regular hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays.
