Boards Across Hermosa artwalk

A Boards Across America Art Walk takes place from 2 to 7 p.m. today. The walk starts at The Source Cafe on Pier Avenue, continues down Pier Avenue, to Hermosa Avenue and Pier Plaza. Stops include Hermosa Brewing Company, Guisado’s, Coastal, and The Bike Shop This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hermosa Beach Skate Park. Boards Across Hermosa pays tribute to Hermosa’s unique role in the history of skateboarding. Using skateboards as the canvas, 50 artists have created one of a kind art curated by local skating legend Cindy Whitehead. Now through St. Patrick’s Day, 50 boards will be on display in 50 storefronts. The skate art is up for auction with sales benefitting artists and the Hermosa Beach Chamber Foundation. The exhibit and auction comes to a close on April 20 at Indivisible Art’s State of the Art gala. Information: hbchamber.net/boardsacrosshermosa.

Redfield winter art show at ER

Lunar New Year celebration at SC Botanic Garden

The winter blooms and green foliage at the South Coast Botanic Gardens are a picture-perfect backdrop to usher in the Year of the Dragon, complete with red lanterns and festive activities throughout the entire month of February. Every Saturday and Sunday, the Garden will host two 30-minute live performances – at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Both shows will feature the same types of performances including lion dancers, folk dancers and drummers. Activity stations on the Lower Meadow from 10 a.m. –  4 p.m. Classes that can be purchased for an additional fee. Brace yourself for a chilly plunge into the icy waters of Manhattan Beach, all for a good cause. Chris Taylor will be joined by many of his Dodger teammates, celebrities, and other special guests. Sugar and Cancer CSC via Zoom

Harrison and Reines will debunk myths and clarify how carbohydrates are used by the body, how much should be consumed, as well as the healthiest kinds to include in a diet.
