Spotlight: Super Bowl Run/Walk

The Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K will return for a 45th year on Sunday, Feb. 12. The event features finisher medals and race shirts for all participants, awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age division category, a costume contest, a hospitality area, music and post-race snacks and drinks. The start times are 7 a.m. for the Kids’ 1K Fun Run, 7:30 a.m. for the 10K Run/Walk, 8:15 a.m. for the 10K Baby Buggy Run and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K Run/Walk. South Bay Landmark photo contest

“Why I love the South Bay” is the title of the second annual landmarks photography contest sponsored by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments. Boundaries for the landmarks are El Segundo on the north; the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the south; and Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood,Torrance, Lawndale, and Lomita on the east. Acrylic rockers, LED guitars

An art exhibit of famous rockers in acrylic portraits, LED guitars and neon lights is on display at Cherry Co in Redondo Beach through Sunday, Feb. 12. The featured artists are Jayime Jean and Miho Hiramatsu. Pacific brim, at Torrance Art

The Torrance Art Museum has a new exhibit: “Bridging the Pacific-LA Art of the Japanese Diaspora.” This year marks the 50th anniversary of the sister city program between Kashiwa, Japan and Torrance. To celebrate this milestone, the Torrance Art Museum is presenting an exhibition of the artistic talents of the Japanese American community based in Southern California. Fall prevention and safety

A Senior Specialist from the Foundation for Senior Services will talk about safety and preventing falls at the Redondo Beach Main Library, 11 a.m.-noon. The foundation’s goal is to keep seniors living safely and well cared for in their homes for as long as possible. The program will be held in the second floor meeting room at the library, 303 N. Pacific Coast Highway.

Community forum on fentanyl

The Beach Cities Partnership for Youth Coalition is hosting an in-person community forum on fentanyl that will include a film screening of the documentary, “Dead on Arrival,” followed by a panel discussion. 5:30-7 p.m. at RUHS Auditorium, 1 Sea Hawk Way, Redondo Beach. Library book sale

Manhattan Beach Friends of the Library will hold its quarterly book sale from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Feb. 18 in the library conference room. Guided nature walk

Join the Los Serenos de Point Vicente on Feb. 18 for a tour of the Point Vicente Interpretive Center Native Plant Garden in Rancho Palos Verdes and walk along the spectacular bluff top at the Vicente Bluff Reserve. The theme of the walk is “whales.” There is no charge to participate and all ages are welcome. Bring sun/weather protection and water. Sturdy shoes recommended. The walk is about one and a half miles. Meet at 10 a.m. on the front patio of Point Vicente Interpretive Center, located at 31501 Palos Verdes Drive West, Rancho Palos Verdes. Rock ’n roll tribute band the Atlantic City Boys will bring the music of the 50s and 60s to the Redondo Union High School auditorium at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18. Concert-goers can expect covers of such classics as “My Eyes Adored You,” “Ragdoll” and “Let’s Hang On.” Band members E. Ballet
