Redondo Beach Bark in ‘D’ Park

The Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park is hosting the “Bark in D Park” Community Outreach Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. on Sunday, March 26 at the Redondo Beach Dog Park at 190 Flagler Lane. The group is offering free vaccines for the first 50 seniors dogs. Their owners have a choice of a rabies/parvo vaccine or microchip. Only one per household. Organizers are collecting dog equipment and supplies for local animal control units, shelters and rescue groups. This includes new or gently used (and clean) leashes, collars, crates, bowls, towels, blankets, and  toys. Manhattan Beach resident Gene Rodriquez will be the keynote speaker at The South Bay Cities Council of Governments’ 23rd annual General Assembly. March Madness expert

El Camino College women’s basketball coach Steve Shaw will speak at the South Bay Athletic Club this week on assorted subjects ranging from his team to the NCAA women’s and men’s tournaments. Shaw knows March Madness from when he played at Cal State Fullerton. The SBAC meets at noon every Friday at H.T. Grill, 1701 S. Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach. The luncheon is open to the public. Cost is $30.

“Little Me” at Community Church theater

Manhattan Beach Community Church’s 2023 spring musical is “Little Me,” a 1962 Neil Simon musical comedy that tells the rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches story of a young girl from the wrong side of the tracks. “Little Me” chronicles her zany path to wealth, culture, social position and love. South Bay Orchid Society Spring Show & Sale

The show and sale is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 at the Palos Verdes Art Center, 5504 W. Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes. Word Women: Poetry Heals

Cancer Support Community South Bay offers this free workshop led by Ja`net Danielo on the last Saturday of each month. Hermosa tile at the Hermosa Museum

The Hermosa Beach Museum’s first temporary exhibit of 2023, “Proutyline Products: The Story of ‘Hermosa Tile’ & The Prouty Family,” opens March 31 at 6 p.m. No ticket reservation are necessary for the opening event. Park cleanup

Hermosa Beach Mayor Ray Jackson invites the community to join him in a service day to spruce up South Park on April 1, 9-10:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help repaint two classrooms, railing and the trim around the building, pull weeds and add plants. South Park is located at 425 Valley Drive. Eggstravaganza

The free family event is set for 10 a.m.-noon on April 1 at Franklin Park, 807 Inglewood Ave. in Redondo Beach. There will be an egg hunt, an Easter Bunny photo booth, a toy raffle and more. Families should bring their own baskets for the egg hunt. The schedule for the egg hunt is ages 0-2, 10:20 a.m.; ages 3-5, 10:40 a.m.; ages 6-8, 11:20 a.m.; ages 9+, 11:40 a.m. The event is present by the city of Redondo Beach. Holy Week at MBCC

Living art exhibit

The Living Art Experience will be held April 7-8 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Twelve recreations of twelve art masterpieces using live models will be presented. The featured artwork includes Leonardo DaVinci’s “Last Supper” and Michelangelo’s “Pietà.” The program will be narrated with an original script and presented with a musical score performed by an orchestra and vocal ensemble. Community garage sale

The city of Hermosa Beach has announced the return of the Community Garage Sale on April 15. The city will accept registrations beginning April 1 and city staff will help residents publicize their garage sales through a crowd-sourced map and advertisements on social media and Craigslist. Residents can subscribe to notifications on the city website to receive an update when the Community Garage Sale registration begins. Seahorse Classic

The 33rd annual Seahorse Classic Charity golf tournament will be held April 24 at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Driving tour

“The Art of the Road,” a driving tour of artistic and historic sites on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, will be held on May 6. Sponsored by The Circle of the Palos Verdes Art Center, the tour and finish line party is a fundraiser for the Art Center’s visual arts exhibition and education programs. Drivers and navigators in both classic and modern cars can participate in the tour and party for $350.
