Spotlight: Hermosa tile at the Hermosa Museum

The Hermosa Beach Museum’s first temporary exhibit of 2023, “Proutyline Products: The Story of ‘Hermosa Tile’ & The Prouty Family,” opens Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m. The exhibit explores the founding of Hermosa Tile by T.C. Prouty and his lengthy career, which included the manufacturing of neon signs, tile, porcelain, door hangers, speed indicators and electrical supplies, as well as numerous patents for pottery equipment and formulas. The exhibit includes original tile from the museum’s collection, patents from the inventive mind of T.C. Prouty and photographs of the Hermosa tile factory, and the art deco Prouty family home on The Strand in Hermosa Beach. The museum is located at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave. It is open 2-4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Information: hermosabeachhistoricalsociety.org

“Little Me” at Community Church theater

Manhattan Beach Community Church’s 2023 spring musical is “Little Me,” a 1962 Neil Simon musical comedy that tells the rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches story of a young girl from the wrong side of the tracks. “Little Me” chronicles her zany path to wealth, culture, social position and love. Evening performances are March 24, March 25, March 31 and April 1 at 8 p.m. Matinees are March 26 and April 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25. 303 S. Peck Ave.

Les Misérables at RUHS

Les Misérables, presented by the Redondo Union High School Performing Arts Department, opens Friday, March 24 at the school auditorium, 1 Sea Hawk Way. UCLA offensive line coach Tim Drevno, who played football at South Torrance High, El Camino College and Cal State Fullerton, and Narbonne High baseball coach Bill Dillon will speak at this week’s South Bay Athletic Club luncheon. The SBAC meets at noon every Friday at H.T. Grill, 1701 S. Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach. The luncheon is open to the public; cost is $30.

Park cleanup

Hermosa Beach Mayor Ray Jackson invites the community to join him in sprucing up South Park, 9-10:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help repaint two classrooms, railing and the trim around the building, pull weeds and add plants. South Park is located at 425 Valley Drive. Eggstravaganza

The free family event is set for 10 a.m.-noon at Franklin Park, 807 Inglewood Ave. in Redondo Beach. There will be an egg hunt, an Easter Bunny photo booth, a toy raffle and more. Families should bring their own baskets for the egg hunt. The schedule for the egg hunt is ages 0-2, 10:20 a.m.; ages 3-5, 10:40 a.m.; ages 6-8, 11:20 a.m.; ages 9+, 11:40 a.m. The event is presented by the city of Redondo Beach. Living art exhibit

The Living Art Experience will be held April 7-8 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Twelve recreations of twelve art masterpieces using live models will be presented. The featured artwork includes Leonardo DaVinci’s “Last Supper” and Michelangelo’s “Pietà.” The program will be narrated with an original script and presented with a musical score performed by an orchestra and vocal ensemble. 5K Run/Walk

YOU ARE ENOUGH, the mental health campaign of Giving Purpose started by Redondo Beach resident Cathy Caplener, will hold the first annual YOU ARE ENOUGH 5K Run/Walk on April 8 in Hermosa Beach. The event will start at 9 a.m. Schumacher Plaza and proceed to the Manhattan Beach Pier, before returning to the Plaza. The event fee is $40. All proceeds will go toward campaign billboards in the South Bay. The city of Hermosa Beach has announced the return of the Community Garage Sale on April 15. The city will accept registrations beginning April 1 and city staff will help residents publicize their garage sales through a crowd-sourced map and advertisements on social media and Craigslist. Residents can subscribe to notifications on the city website to receive an update when the Community Garage Sale registration begins. Seahorse Classic

The 33rd annual Seahorse Classic Charity golf tournament will be held April 24 at Palos Verdes Golf Club. Hosted by the Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital, all proceeds will benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Driving tour

“The Art of the Road,” a driving tour of artistic and historic sites on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, will be held on May 6. Sponsored by The Circle of the Palos Verdes Art Center, the tour and finish line party is a fundraiser for the Art Center’s visual arts exhibition and education programs. Drivers and navigators in both classic and modern cars can participate in the tour and party for $350.
