Punk surf artist Lance Smith at Easy Reader 

South Bay cartoonist and illustrator Lance Smith is best known for his surfboard art, featuring Budweiser cans and for the iconic STD band logo. He calls his latest art “color chaos.” Over 20 of these works will be on exhibit at Easy Reader. Opening Reception 5 – 8 p.m. 67 14th Street, Hermosa Beach. 

Sports luncheon

Chris Ferragamo, winner of eight Los Angeles City championships while the coach at Banning High School, will speak on the state of prep football during the South Bay Athletic Club luncheon at the H.T. Grill, 1701 S. Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach. The SBAC weekly meeting, which starts at noon, is open to the public. Reservations are not necessary. The cost of lunch is $30. 

South Bay ‘90s Rewind photo contest

The South Bay in the 1990s is the subject of this year’s South Bay Cities Council of Governments’ annual photo contests. Photos taken during that era, or or recent photos that capture the spirit of the ‘90s are eligible. Subjects may include street scenes, local landmarks, businesses, everyday life and people who defined the community during that time in history. The contest is open to all South Bay, whether hobbyists or professionals. Entries must be received by 5 p.m., today, March 7. The winner will be announced at the March 27 General Assembly, which will highlight the SBCCOG’s accomplishments and discuss the path forward for the South Bay. Ceramicist Eric Carl Brinkman at GoH

The Gallery of Hermosa presents “Tableau,” a solo exhibition by Hermosa Beach-based ceramic artist Eric Carl Brinkman. Brinkman delves into the intersection of functional ceramics and fine art, crafting objects that serve both a practical purpose and a deeper narrative. 45th Annual Neptunian Woman’s Club Art Contest & Show

The Neptunian Woman’s Club Art Contest and Show celebrates 45 years  in support of student creativity in our community. The deadline for K-12 students to submit artwork is today at 3 p.m. Students/Parents need to complete an online form, then drop their artwork at the Main Offices of any MBUSD school, American Martyrs or Manhattan Academy. Students who don’t attend a Manhattan Beach school, but live in Manhattan Beach,are also welcome to submit their artwork.This year as a pilot, Hermosa Valley school 5-8th graders are invited to participate. MB Dune restoration
