Spotlight: OLG Fiesta tradition, stays traditional
Our Lady of Guadalupe’s Fiesta is back for a 48th year. The fair is set for 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on May 6 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on May 7. Guests can enjoy games and attractions, food booths, a silent auction, talent show, live music, a beer and wine garden, raffle and a new gaming room. There will be a live mariachi band Saturday afternoon, and a student show and more live music Sunday afternoon. It all takes place at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 440 Massey Ave. in Hermosa Beach. High school reunion
An all-day Miraleste High School all-class reunion is set for July 29. There will be alumni games, photo booths, live music, campus tours and a homecoming dance at Miraleste Intermediate School, formerly the high school, in Rancho Palos Verdes. Word Women: Poetry Heals
Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free workshop the last Saturday of each month. Open to anyone who has or has had cancer. Participants use poetry to explore and process their cancer journey to move toward healing. Each month has a different theme and no poetry writing experience is necessary. Bird society meeting
The South Bay Bird Society will hold its monthly hybrid meeting at 7 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club, 2515 Valley Drive. Marie Calleja will be speaking on the topic, “Yellow and Blue, Who is Who?” Calleja, director of a non-profit bird re-homing organization, will be comparing the traits between blue and gold macaws and blue-throated macaws. Driving tour
“The Art of the Road,” a driving tour of artistic and historic sites on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, will be held on May 6. Sponsored by The Circle of the Palos Verdes Art Center, the tour and finish line party is a fundraiser for the Art Center. Drivers and navigators in both classic and modern cars can participate in the tour and party for $350.
