Summer festival
The Riviera Village Summer Festival celebrates its 45th year this weekend, June 23, 24, and 25. Enjoy artisan and craft vendors, a beer and wine garden, live music, rides, food trucks and carnival rides for kids. Admission is free. The hours are 4-9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, go to rivieravillage.net.

Girls volleyball camp
Registration is open for Mini-Mustang Girls Volleyball Camp. The camp is for girls in grades 3-8 and will be held July 17-19, 8-11 a.m. at Mira Costa High School, 1401 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach. Instruction and games with Mira Costa volleyball coaches and the 2022-23 volleyball team provided. Girls will be grouped according to age and skill. All campers receive a t-shirt and light snacks. El Segundo pop-up
Last spring, Two Guns Kitchen at 321 Main St. in El Segundo hosted a series of popular Thursday evening pop-ups featuring handmade, wood-fired pizzas and locally-produced natural wines by the glass, flight or bottle. The event returns June 22, 4-8 p.m. Enjoy pizza made by The Urban Oven’s chef Scott Tremonti at his mobile wood-fired oven in Two Guns’ rear parking lot, then head inside to sample a selection of wines from Marbeso Wines.

Following the Catalina Classic
Catalina Classic Paddleboard race director Francziska Steagall will discuss the history of the 32-mile race from Catalina Island to the Manhattan Beach pier. This year’s race is Sunday, August 27. The race was founded in 1955. The museum presentation is at 11 a.m. at the Little Red Cottage/Museum in Polliwog Park, 1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Manhattan Beach.
Word Women: Poetry Heals
Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free monthly workshop on the last Saturday of each month. Open to anyone who has or has had cancer, participants use poetry to explore and process their cancer journey with the goal of moving toward healing. Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay) offers this free workshop led by licensed clinical social worker Jennifer Drew. The 4th of July 5K and Firecracker Dash in Redondo Beach will return for a 30th year on July 4. Viewing areas will be available on a first come, first served basis in the west parking lot of the LA County Courthouse (825 Maple Ave.) and the LA Galaxy Sports Center (555 Maple Ave.).
