Manhattan Beach Open Tennis Tournament

The 56th Annual Manhattan Open Tennis Tournament brings the Southland’s top players to Manhattan Beach Thursday, July 18  through Sunday, July 21. The finals will be held at the Manhattan Country Club Sunday afternoon. Early rounds will be held at Live Oak Park, 1901 Valley Dr., and Mira Costa High School, corner of Artesia Blvd. and Meadows Ave. Free admission to all venues. Pub Trivia, HB Museum

SC Botanical Garden

Sunset series at South Coast Botanic Garden every Thursday night. Spend your night in the Garden surrounded by nature and entranced by music, food, drinks, and family fun. BarryBob Invitational Tournament, MB

Barry Walmer and Bob Cleary were best friends for 35 years. They attended high school and college together. Both were committed family men, were each married over 35 years, were parishioners at American Martyrs Catholic Church and raised their families in Manhattan Beach. Barry Walmer passed away on September 4, 1995. Bob Cleary passed away on April 27 1998. In tribute to these men, the Cleary and Walmer families have instituted a volleyball tournament in their memory. Play begins at 9 a.m. 9th Street and The Strand, Manhattan Beach. Post party at Shellback Tavern, 116 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Manhattan Beach.

Book arts day for girls, Printing Museum
