Glow Ride for Cystic Fibrosis 

Claire’s Place Foundation hosts its annual Glow Ride for Cystic Fibrosis on Saturday, August 12, from 5 to 9 p.m. Cyclists and walkers will go from the Hermosa Pier to the Manhattan Pier and back to the Hermosa Pier. Registration at the Hermosa pier starts at 5 p.m. Hermosa Cyclery is lending bicycles and safety gear to riders at no charge. Concerts in Polliwog Park

The Tom Nolan Band will pay tribute to the roots of soul, blues, jazz, and R&B Sunday, Aug. 13 at Polliwog Park. The show is part of the annual Concerts in the Park series at Polliwog Park. The series features concerts every Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 5. Concert-goers are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics. Polliwog Park is located at 1601 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Information: ManhattanBeach.gov.

New art exhibit

“Life on the Palos Verdes Peninsula” is on display through Sept. 23 at the Malaga Cove Library, 2400 Vía Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates. The exhibit features paintings by fourteen artists.

Chorale auditions

Los Cancioneros Master Chorale has openings for experienced singers to join its upcoming 75th season. “Sweeney Todd” auditions

Tower 26 Hermosa Beach Triathlon

Wounded veterans will mark the day they were injured and celebrate their survival on Aug. 19 at Dockweiler State Beach in Playa Del Rey. Alive Day! is a family fun event with boogie boarding, body boarding and surfing, music and food. Dive N’ Surf will be on hand to offer instruction. Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training teaches how to recognize and support individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Dale Velzy commemorative plaque 

The plaque will be unveiled and celebrated on Aug. 27, 2 to 6 p.m., at the Hermosa Beach Museum before its installation in Manhattan Beach. The plaque recognizes Velzy’s contributions to surf culture. No tickets necessary. The museum is at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave.
