The 49th Annual Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix begins at 7 a.m. Sunday, June 27 at Live Oak Park. One of the west coast’s oldest and most prestigious cycling street races, the event draws a thousand top cyclists racing the oval on Valley and Ardmore between 15th Street and Pacific and popular community races featuring age divisions for the kids. Shark’s Cove in Hermosa Beach reclaimed the Don Whitman Memorial trophy by winning the Redondo Beach City Softball Championship with an 11-8 victory over the Pitcher House Dogs. Velocity Sports Performance in Redondo Beach will hold its Sports FUNdamental Movements camp for 1st – 3rd graders Monday through Thursday. Kids develop fundamental motor skills and coordination to improve athletic development while being introduced to various sports skills.
