The Central Redondo Little League AAA Astros won the District 36 minor division Tournament of Champions overcoming a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Palos Verdes Reds 7-6 in the seventh innings. The championship marks the first for Central Redondo Little League in the minor division in 20 years. Baseball

Mira Costa’s Lucas Whitehill and El Segundo’s Nigel Nootbaar were selected as multi-purpose players on the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Baseball second team.

Led by varsity head coach Cassidy Olson and pitching coach Carlos Rojas, the Mira Costa Baseball Camp will be held Mon.-Fri. Players ages 8 to 13 learn the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, pitching and base running. The camp is held 9 a.m. to noon at the Mira Costa baseball field. Registration is available for South Bay Surf Summer Baseball Camps which runs from July through Aug. 20 at the El Camino College baseball field. Each camp is open to players 7-14 and is held Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Fee: $150. The inaugural 4-Person Lady Sea Hawk’s Volleyball Tournament will be held Friday, July 30 beginning at 2 p.m. in Redondo Union High School’s big gym. Beach Cities Volleyball indoor camps and clinics begin Monday. Beginners as young as 7 get game and technique basics while the intermediate and advanced clinics offer game strategies, jump serve, back setting and blocking. California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) is hosting tournaments throughout the weekend at Rosecrans in Manhattan Beach. Saturday’s action features Men’s B competition. The Amateur Athletic Union is hosting the Best of the Beach tournament at the AVP Hermosa Open for girls in the 16U division. The two-day event is presented by Kauai Bikini and begins at 9 a.m. each day at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Fee is $70. Also on Sunday, the 17th AAU Junior Nationals Beach Volleyball tournament for boys in the 18U division will be held at 8 a.m. Fee is $60. Aquatics

The King Harbor Yacht Club hosts this 19th annual Tom Collier Regatta Saturday in memory of the club’s former sailing star, who succumbed to cancer at 31. Proceeds go to the cancer research program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. For information, visit www.khyc.org.

Board paddling practice is being offered on Thursday evenings throughout July at 6:30 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Divided into groups by ability levels, the sessions help novices get comfortable in the surf, intermediates gain technical input and provide experienced padddlers with someone to workout with. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Street in Manhattan Beach, is hosting Open Ropes on Saturdays from noon-3 p.m. for kids and adults ages 8 and up. Participants will bond while solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Groups of seven start every hour and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete the course. The South Bay Skulls semi-pro football team kicks off its home schedule on Saturday with a triple header that includes two games prior to the Skulls contest against the California Dolphins. Dave Miller, former NBA/NCAA basketball coach will host his MVP Summer Basketball Camps Aug. 2-6. The camp focuses on fundamentals including offensive and defensive drills, sportsmanship and positive values that produce life skills on and off the court.
