The Beach Volleyball CBVA Camp will be held Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m.-noon at the Manhattan Beach Pier. There is one coach for every eight campers who will instruct players 7-18 who want to play in competitive tournaments. Sessions run from 9 a.m.-noon with one coach for every eight players.  The United State Youth Volleyball League is accepting applications through Sept. 1 for its 8-week Hermosa Beach League to be played at South Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Open to boys and girls ages 7-15, the league costs $185 and runs from Sept. 8 through Nov. 3.  Hockey

Velocity Sports Performance will be holding a combine and camp for youth hockey players. The NHL Style Hockey Combine takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. Players ages 8-18 will be tested in the 20m dash, vertical jump, bench press, hurdle hexagon, medicine ball rotational throw and grip strength. Cost is $25/players or $150 for a team (group of 10). Registration limited to 100 athletes.

A Pre-Season Hockey Dryland Camp will be held Mon.-Fri. from 9-11 a.m. for hockey players in grades 6-12. The camp focuses on upper and lower body strength, first step explosiveness and features Combat Core Conditioning taught by MMA fighter Vladimir Matyushenko. Cost is $149/athlete.  Football

The South Bay Skulls semi-pro football team hosts the Central Coast Grizzlies in a LaBelle Community Football League Western Conference showdown on Saturday, Aug. 28.  The Prank Monkey coed flag football on the beach tournament is back for its annual random draw event on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10th Street and The Strand in Hermosa Beach. Individuals are welcome and no experience is necessary. All teams will be picked at random, playing a minimum of two games. The cost of the tournament is $25 per person. Pre-registration available at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach. To ensure even teams, please sign up with an opposite sex co-entry.  The Smackbowl Men’s and Women’s Flag Football Tournament on the Beach returns Saturday, Nov. 13 at 10th & the Strand in Hermosa Beach. Teams created in advance by captains, 5-on-5 (maximum of 10 players per team) begin play promptly at 10:30 a.m. The cost of the tournament is $160 per team via pre-registration only at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach or online at www.hermosabch.org.  Fitness

AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Street in Manhattan Beach, is hosting Open Ropes on Saturdays from noon-3 p.m. for kids and adults ages 8 and up. Participants will bond while solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Groups of seven start every hour and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete the course. Advance registration is recommended. Cost is $20.

 Basketball

Dave Miller, former New Orleans Hornets/NCAA basketball coach will be hosting his Saturday Night Basketball League from Sept. 4 through Nov. 27 for boys and girls ages 6-14. The girls league will be held from 5-6 p.m. followed by the boys from 6-7 p.m. at the Spectrum Athletic Club South Bay. The league emphasizes the fundamentals of the game in a safe positive learning environment while producing life skills that will last on and off the court.
