Baseball

Weather finally cooperated for the Mira Costa PONY league which was able to host their second annual Christmas tournament on January 8-9. Eight 12U teams from the Los Angeles area staged a very competitive and fun kickoff for the coming Spring season at Costa. The Blaze, coached by Angel Ochoa, won the championship, with a terrific display of power hitting and pitching. The Blaze consists of players from throughout Los Angeles County. The semi-final was a cliffhanger with eventual second place team, The SoCal Cavaliers jumping out in front of local team Beach Cities SurfDogs. The SurfDogs battled back coming up just short, stranding the tying run on base in the bottom of the last inning, settling for third place. Signups for the upcoming Mira Costa PONY league Spring season are still open before player evaluations are held in February. Visit http://miracostabaseball.clubspaces.com/  to register.
