The 12-and-Under German National Little League team will be on of eight teams participating in Beach City Baseball Academy’s annual International Baseball Tournament to be held at Recreation Park in El Segundo Saturday and Sunday Mar. 28- 29 starting 9 a.m. continuing to the early afternoon.

The Beach City Prospects will also be playing an exhibition game against the German team on Friday, Mar. 27 at 7 p.m.

It is a yearly tradition for Beach City Baseball Academy (BCBA) to invite an international team to this tournament. For the last three years it hosted Kitasuna of Tokyo, the Little League world champion team from Japan.

“We are very grateful that the German Team accepted our invitation because we want to expose Southern Californian players to this amazing and fun experience of sharing the common language of baseball across distinct cultures,” said BCBA owner Richard Murad. “It will be an exciting tournament. I expect to see a lot of smiles and some great baseball.”

BCBA pays the entire cost of the trip for the German team including all travel and entertainment expenses.

The week includes a beach barbecue, a Dodger game where the kids get to go on the field and meet Dodger players, a trip to Universal studios and sightseeing tours throughout Los Angeles.

“Sports are an incredible way to bring people and communities together, and team activities have been continuously proven to help children build confidence and improve social skills. It’s especially fun for the local Los Angeles families that host the boys in their homes for one week during their stay,” Murad said.

Participating teams are: El Segundo Little League, North Torrance Little League, Manhattan Beach Heaters (coached by former Los Angeles Dodger Eric Karros), Redondo Beach Samurai, South Bay Krakens, South Bay Surf, Team Germany, and the Beach City Baseball Academy team.

Located at 430 East Grand Avenue in El Segundo, BCBA provides targeted, well-maintained training equipment and skilled and passionate instructors who teach beyond the fundamentals with individualized custom programs while building confidence and inspiring their students to strive for excellence.

In addition to managing and operating well-organized baseball camps that are open to everyone, BCBA sponsors The Beach City Prospects, a program of competitive and developmental traveling club teams with robust tournament schedules. This program is open for tryout by invitation to those members that show excellence in skills and sportsmanship, unwavering respect for themselves and for those around them, and a 100 percent commitment to adhere to the club’s culture and its schedule of games, practices and events.
