Beach community – Seawright tourney

“With the vibe of the South Bay changing all around us it’s nice to have a few things that will never change,” Annie Seawright Newton said of the 50th Anniversary Seawright Volleyball Tournament. The Seawright was held last month on the courts in north Hermosa Beach, where the tournament was founded in 1968 by her grandparents Bunny and Roy Seawright. The Roy Seawright Memorial Cup for sportsmanship was presented to “A” player Scott Lane, whose team placed second. The Live Like Doug Award was presented to the Stimpfig and Snyder families, who have participated in the tournament for three generations. Doug Schneider died in an off-road motorcycle accident in 2014. The winners of the 50th Anniversary Seawright Tournament were Matt Wade, LeAnne McSorley, Marty McSorley and Mike Harrington. ER
