Beach giving – Beach cities toy drive

On the Saturday before Christmas, volunteers gathered at the Hermosa Beach Clark Building for the Beach Cities Toy Drive gift wrapping party. Some of the volunteers have been coming to what is thought to be the largest gift wrapping party in the world for as many as 20 years in a row. The gifts were collected throughout December at local fire stations, for distribution to local charities, including the Richstone Family Center, St. Cross 1736 Crisis Center, the Salvation Army and the Harbor UCLA Child Crisis Center. Hermosa Cyclery donated two dozen bicycles in memory of their founder Harold “Schu” Schumaker. The Hermosa Chamber donated toys it collected as admission to its annual holiday mixer, prior to the Hermosa Tree Lighting.
