Gaffney’s groms
A group of fellow surfing dads founded South Bay Boardriders Club six years ago to give their kids the opportunity to develop as surfers. The club’s success is evident in the six contests it holds each winter. Of the nearly 200 surfers who entered in the ET Surf/SBBC contest last month at 26th Street in Manhattan Beach, nearly half competed in the boys (14 and under) and groms (12 and under) divisions. Just how good the young surfers have become is evident in Steve Gaffney’s photographs.
