Beach Shorts Film Fest is an amateur short film festival held at the historic Hermosa Beach Community Center, site of former Pier Avenue Jr. High. In tradition of being held at the showing location of some of the classic surf films of the 60s, the 7th Annual Beach Shorts Film Fest gives the opportunity to amateur surfing and beach filmmakers to screen their films in such a historic venue. Over the years we have been able to screen loads of great surf films with many from first time filmmakers. It is a fantastic feeling to see your work on the Big Screen in front of a live Audience. The films come from all walks of life and age groups, from 12-year-old girls to 66-year-old surf dogs.

No Surf film evening would be complete without a surfboard raffle. Local Shaper Adam Davenport generously donates a brand new longboard each year. To see some fantastic boards visit: davenportlongboards.com. Davenport also displays his boards in the lobby along with local artists. This year the event is proud to have Ron Croci, Ken Pagliaro, and Candace Stalder on hand displaying their works. For a sneak preview: RonCroci.com, Ken Pagliaro.com, and StalderArt.co

Beach Shorts Film Fest is produced by Barry Hatchett through his company Polaris Promotions. His “small army” of friends help with months of preparations while he says his wife, Tricia, “tops the list.” Other key players for Beach Shorts are Tom Waite with Web and Graphics Design and Projection support by Alan Latteri. The prizes for the filmmakers are generously donated by local surf shops and merchants.
It’s a family fun filled evening.  We hope to see you there. DZÂ
