For the first time in Easy Reader history, the furniture store “Best of” winner doesn’t have an actual store. Instead, Lena Khattar, the brains and imagination behind Geagea Designs goes to her client’s homes and brings the furniture to them.
“Designing was something I was kind of given to and I was self-taught,” Khattar said. “I would go home during spring break and decorate my mom’s house. I didn’t realize It was just a natural ability, I guess. Then I took the leap and opened my own design company and here I am.“
Khattar was originally a pilot, but realized very quickly that flying wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. Although she gave up aviation, Khattar believes her experience traveling the world allowed her to experience different cultures and design styles.
“I’m so diverse, I can do anything and everything,” said Khattar, who has designed homes for many high powered people in the entertainment industry as well as homes for different Royal families. “I do modern, traditional, contemporary, and everybody in the South Bay tends to love the coastal look. Being diverse in so many different aspects of design gives me a wider range of clientele.”
Khattar recommends hiring a designer along with an architect and contractor when building or redesigning a home.
“They need to work together, there are so many factors where an architect doesn’t think about things, but a designer does,” said Khattar. – CS
