The Spot – They call themselves the World Famous Spot, and they’re one of the few restaurants in the area to have some legitimate claim to that title. The Spot is LA’s oldest health food restaurant, and they’ve served millions of vegetarian and vegan meals to celebrities and local lowlifes alike. There’s still something of the Sixties about the place where you peruse offerings of both traditional and Mexican-inspired dishes, whether you enjoy them inside or on the sunny rear patio. The food is healthy but not puritanical, rich in flavor and freshness, and a draw for vegetarians and open-minded omnivores alike. And the Savory Sauce can convert the most rabid of flesh-eaters.
