Boy killed in PCH motorcycle crash

by Garth Meyer

A teenage boy was killed Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of Carnelian Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the southbound motorcycle hit a sedan that was making a turn, according to Lt. Corey King of the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Witnesses called 911 and police arrived to find the boy lying in the street, unresponsive. He died at a hospital from his injuries. News footage from KTLA showed that the impacted car’s airbags came out and the motorcycle was heavily damaged from the crash.

Lt. King reported that the driver of the car, identified as an adult woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The investigation remains active. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the incident.

Authorities ask that anyone with information on the crash call RBPD Investigator Scot Martin at (310) 279-2477, ext. 3862.
