The “Sound of Ukraine” Music + Art fest, a fundraiser to help the Brighter Ukraine Foundation send a container of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, will be held Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at Unita, in El Segundo. Brighter Ukraine was founded by AVP 0pen player Arina Gerasimova, who grew up in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, one of the cities hardest hit by the Russian invasion. Her family still lives there. Gerasimova moved to the U.S. after receiving a track scholarship when she was 16, to SUNY Albany,  (State University of New York), where she set the indoor school record and won both indoor and outdoor conference championships at the America East and Big East conferences.

*Over the past six months, Gerasimova has made 12 trips to Ukraine, to deliver food, medical supplies and protective equipment. She recently started an initiative to supply Ukrainian amputee soldiers with prosthetics. Her foundation also plans to help rebuild post-war Ukraine.
Music at the “Sound of Ukraine” Music + Art fest will include a Ukrainian DJ & vinyl set by Moxa Records. The evening will also feature art and photography, Ukrainian performers, a Ukrainian  film in English, Ukranian food, drinks and clothing, a tattoo artist, and Ukrainian landscape videography.
