The Hermosa Beach Museum is pleased to announce the opening of Skateboarding Then, an exhibition about the rise of skateboarding in Hermosa Beach and the South Bay. The exhibit will include photographs, objects from the private collection of Cindy Whitehead, and skateboarding film from Gerard Ravel.
Skateboarding in Hermosa Beach is a common thread through several generations, from the individuals in the community who pioneered the sport to today’s youth. This exhibition features a glimpse into the world that was ‘skateboarding then’.
The presentation marks the first student led exhibition at the museum, curated by Collections Volunteer Dylan Lombardo. Exhibit opens Saturday, May 22, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees are required to register for a timed ticket, and comply with the museum’s COVID safety guidelines. Children’s cancer cure fundraiser
The 15th annual Adrienne’s Search for Children’s Cancer Cure Fundraiser is underway through May 31. The fundraiser is virtual with proceeds benefiting programs for children and teens through the Cancer Support Community of Redondo Beach (CSCRB).
