The Beach Cities Health District’s upcoming “allcove” youth wellness center is the recipient of $1 million in federal funding.

Championed by Congressman Ted Lieu, the money is part of a $1.5 trillion spending package signed by President Biden in March.

“I am proud to have worked alongside so many local leaders, like (Beach Cities Health District CEO) Tom Bakaly, to help ensure our community has the resources it needs for a healthier, safer, and more resilient future,” said Rep. Lieu.

A “one-stop shop” for mental health services, resources and support for ages 12-25, the “allcove” model came from Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ Center for Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing.

The Redondo location is funded first by a $2 million, four-year state grant.

It is slated to be a permanent feature in the Beach Cities Health District’s proposed Healthy Living Campus. ER
