Anne Kish, a school crossing guard, was resting comfortably at her home Monday evening, after a morning accident at the busy intersection of Pier Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. Her injuries were described as non-serious.

The accident occurred about 8 a.m. when the guard was in the intersection, signaling pedestrians to begin walking westbound toward her across PCH, and she was struck by a car turning right from Pier onto PCH, said Patricia Pohl, director of operations for All City Management Services, which provides school crossing guards for the city.

Kish was treated at an area hospital and released.

In a Monday email, Hermosa Valley School Principal Patricia Escalante told parents of the accident.

“Some of our students were present at the time with the walking school-bus coordinators, but all students are safe and un-injured,” Escalante wrote.

“An all-school announcement was delivered to students to let them know that the guard would be okay and a reminder to always follow the safety rules of the school and community,” she wrote. “The police officials reported the walking school bus group was extremely well organized and supervised.”
