A woman was found dead of an apparent drug or alcohol overdose inside a parked car Tuesday morning.
Police found the woman inside a white Honda parked on the 700 block of Longfellow Ave, said Sgt. Robert Higgins of the Hermosa Beach Police Department. Police at the scene Tuesday were awaiting the arrival of the Los Angeles County Coroner for an official cause-of-death determination, but Higgins said evidence pointed toward an overdose.
“What’s present in the car makes it seem like a substance abuse case,” he said.
There was no indication of foul play.
A woman in the neighborhood, who did not want to disclose her name, said she passed by the car about 10:20 a.m. and saw the woman inside. When she passed by again about 45 minutes later, she noticed that the woman in the car was slumped over, and her skin had a blue-tint.
The neighborhood tapped on the window but got no response. She called police, who arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Police could not disclose the identity of the victim, but said she was in her 30s and did not appear to be from the area. The car in which the woman was found carried a Nevada license plate.
