Beach Volleyball: Olympic silver medalist Mike Dodd will be holding a beach volleyball camp for boys and girls ages 8-17. Held at Rosecrans Ave. in Manhattan Beach, the camp runs Monday through Thursday from 2:30 – 5 p.m. beginning Aug. 10. Cost is $220 or $60/day. The National Volleyball League holds the West Coast Championships Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 6-8 on the north side of the Hermosa Beach Pier. With a prize purse of $75,000, the pro tournament includes a 16-team draw per gender. The NVL RIZE “Clinic with the Pros” for youth will take place Friday from 2-3 p.m. and a 4-Man Co-ed adult tournament will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. For more information or to register, visit thenvl.com.

 

AVPFirst, a new youth development program, will be holding events alongside the Manhattan Beach Open. The Manhattan Beach Junior Invitational will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 11-12 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Registration is ongoing for Co-ed 4s and 6-man tournaments to be held as part of the ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball in Long Beach. The Co-ed 4s takes place Friday, Aug. 21 and costs $250 per team (8 player max). The 6-man Open (single gender) and College Co-ed 6-man tournaments will be held Saturday, Aug. 22. Indoor Volleyball: Boys and girls going into 2nd through 8th grades can learn or hone their indoor volleyball fundamentals at the 12th annual Dodd Volleyball Clinic to be held at American Martyrs Gym, 701 15th St., Manhattan Beach Beginning Aug. 10. Taught by USA Jr. National U13 and U26 coach Patty Dodd, sessions for grades 6-8 run from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and cost $325. Grades 2-5 meet from 2-4 p.m. for a $150 fee.
