The driver involved in a car collision last year that resulted in a Hermosa Beach motorcyclist’s death pleaded not guilty Monday to a misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge.
On Nov. 1, 2012, Stephen Lee, 39, of Blauvelt, New York, was making a left turn from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard onto eastbound Tennyson Street when he failed to yield to Michael King, 62, who on his Harley Davidson was heading northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.
King collided into the passenger side of Lee’s car, suffering critical injuries with broken bones and head trauma. He died on Dec. 27 at Gardena Memorial Hospital.
The District Attorney’s Office filed a case against Lee on Feb. 26 and issued a warrant. He surrendered himself two days later to the Manhattan Beach Police Department, where he was booked and released.
A pretrial hearing will be held May 29 in Torrance Superior Court.
